Samir Chatterjee - Tablas

Samir Chatterjee is a virtuoso Tabla player from India. He travels widely across the world throughout the year performing in numerous festivals as a soloist or with other outstanding musicians from both Indian and non-Indian musical traditions including such luminaries as Branford Marsalis, Ravi Coltrane, Joshua Bell, Yoko Ono Lenon, Steve Gorn, Glen Velez, Junoon and orchestras and jazz ensembles. 

Samir performed at the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony in Oslo, Norway in 2007. He also performed a few times at the United Nations General Assembly. His compositions are widely acclaimed as well as his writings. Samir is a firm believer in the transforming effect of music on the society and all aspects of his work reflects this conviction. 

 He is the Founder-Director of CHHANDAYAN, an organization dedicated to promoting and preserving Indian music and culture.

Samir Chatterjee - Tablas

Flutist Pamela Whitman performs classical, world music and original meditation music on a collection of rare flutes from around the world, incorporating multiple creative genres. She has performed throughout the world in collaboration with musicians of 

varying cultures and genres. Her three-year cultural exchange project with the Himalayan Kingdom of Nepal was the subject of two “Young Asia” (YATV) television documentaries which aired in seventeen Asian countries. Artists For A Better World honored Pamela in an international award ceremony in Hollywood for her humanitarian work as an artist. Pamela earned her degree in Flute Performance from the University of Michigan. She has been the Principal Flutist of The Ocean City Pops Orchestra since 1989. She is an active recording artist with numerous original recordings for relaxation.

Our Concert

This program features an extraordinary collaboration between Pamela Whitman and Samir Chatterjee, a virtuoso tabla player from India. This multimedia concert includes:

- Original compositions and world music selections

- Musical tributes to peace leaders including Gandhi and Martin Luther King Jr.

- A video presentation about Peace Pilgrim, a remarkable female peace advocate

- Interactive cultural exchange elements

The performance celebrates the universal language of music while promoting understanding between diverse communities.
